The small village of Hillcrest was founded in 1895 as a farming settlement,
and started growing very slowly since the introduction of tarred roads only in
the 1970s and 1980s. Hillcrest now subject to administration by the Outer West
Council, hosts many new middle-income residential estates such as the renowned
Plantations, due to the recent and rather swift expansion of the town.
